my miniature summer break:

I only had a few weeks off of school since i stayed for spring semester and am conitnuing on with fall semester- but those weeks were packed with all sorts of fun stuff!

i was a counselor at EFY (a church youth camp) for two weeks up in Calgary (where i went when i was 14)

we had family reunions for both sides of the family this year! i was only able to make it the end of the Hatch reunion and the beginning of the Cahoon reunion but it was so nice to see so many people i hadn't seen in awhile.

and last, but not least, i went on a 9 day roadtrip with my roommates down the west coast. It was perfect in every way! seattle, portland, eugene, the redwoods, and san fransisco. lots of mini adventures in there: sleeping on church lawns, reading some Young Adult classics (ella enchanted, a wrinkle in time) outloud to eachother the whole way down, becoming best friends with paul bunyon (who now knows me by name.true.), walking among the giant redwoods, trolly rides, boat rides, temple stops, camping in some interesting areas,Wicked, getting ready in the morning and at night in grocery store bathrooms, really EVERYTHING you might do on a roadtrip, we did.
and now another semester starts....yay?

please have the video playing in the background as you read today's post.

Well. it's been awhile and i don't think i can promise to be any more regular than i have been. i am blaming the fact that i now write in my journal quite regularly. and, of course, i'm a college student who just got through her toughest semester to date.

ttttthat being said, i'm almost positive that there is absolutely nothing that Freebird can't make endurable, better, and actually enjoyable. yes, Lynyrd Skynyrd's Freebird. at the organ's first chord i am instantly transported to the most beautiful place in the united states, with the golden sunset-glow of the sun in my eyes. and the air i'm breathing turns into the clean oxygen that sustains all life. too dramatic? i don't think so.

oh and that also reminds me, does anyone out there use pandora? because you SHOULD. it's a small piece of heaven.

i have been up to a lot since i last posted and i'm hoping a lot of what i started will continue. namely, bookbinding. yesssss. i can finally make the things that usually buy by the ton. i don't have any photo's of my pretties yet, but i will get right on that. i am hoping that i'll find the time while i'm here (in rexburg for summer semester) to make all sorts of leather-bound, coptic, long-stitch, and hardbacks. and i also hope that someday i get good enough to sell them? etsy? mayyyybe. i made myself a pretty little day-planner of which i am proud of and am hoping to find the money to print off the fun journal i made for myself soon, too. i promise pictures: if not in this life, the next.

i discovered the joys of fonts while working on those last two projects and am now happily addicted to dafont. i know it isn't the classiest of

font-sites but i'm a beginner and easily satisfied. i have also been checking out this awwwwesome blog at which the creator gives away free fonts.

my new home

if the rest of my family gets a brand new home, i think i should, too. so i now live in a house (as opposed to an apartment). and i LOVE it. there are 12 of us girls that live here- but the set up is brilliant and you don't have to see anyone unless you want to. two rooms and a bathroom in the back, two rooms and a bathroom in the front, 1 room, 4 girls, 1 huge bathroom upstairs. i am upstairs and i love it- but i guess that has to do with the amazing girls i room with. they are funny, kind, and basically right on. ok well, here are some pictures of our place.

OH! i forgot to take a picture of the outside, that will have to be another time.

^^^^That is our attic. I'll have to take more full-room shots. but my little corner is that first picture. my closet is at the top of the stairs (i share with 1 roommate) and there is another closet for the other two right next to ours. oh and i think you should knopw about the ghost named millie who lives in our attic. she was a flapper here in rexburg but some people didn't like how short her skirt was so they burned down the house (obviously it's been re-built)

below> is the rest of our house. the map is mine- i finally found one! 20 bucks at barnes and noble. i love love love love it. i'm pointing out where my bff adrianne will be on WEDNESDAY (scotland)! oh and we even have a laundry room- it comes in very handy.

and now, my beautiful roommates. jennilyn is missing, which is sad cuz we were SO close to having everyone in the same place at the same time. too bad. the third picture down is lindsay and i celebrating mexico's independance day with some mexacan drinks i found at the store for cheap-o. (she is so nice, she helps me with my spanish class by speaking in spanish to me a lot.) i reallllllly love my roommates!
